Rear Fender Flares
It only took the first trip in the winter to discover that we needed two things. One was to line the wheel wells with a rock guard material so the sand being flung off the tires didn't eventually erode away the paint on our under cabin storage boxes. The second was some fender flares to reduce the debris that was being thrown up onto the cabin body.
The bottom flare stuck out way too far.
The wheel well gravel guard was relatively easy. Just a few spray cans of it from the auto store, some masking and old clothes. Several coats was all that was needed to do the job.
The fender flares were a bit more involved. The only flare material that would work for us had to be attached to a vertical surface. They did make a profile that attached to a horizontal surface, but the flare width was almost four inches and was too wide for the look we wanted. So to use the right material, we had to add some aluminum angle all around the wheel wells to create the vertical bolting surface. A fussy job of nip and tuck, but once done, we just had to get them sandblasted and powder coated before screwing them on. The rubber flare material was held on with stainless steel screws.
